The Saw Doctors
The Saw Doctors
are a folk-rock band from Tuam, County Galway in the west of Ireland, named after the itinerant craftsmen who once traveled from sawmill to sawmill sharpening and repairing saws. The band boasts a fervent following both at home and abroad and hold the record for Ireland's biggest-selling single ever.
Ireland's Dublin-based music cognoscenti have often sneered at the band's rootedness in "backward" West of Ireland locales. However, the Saw Doctors have nevertheless proved themselves a true "people's band," and have a fervent following, especially in Ireland and among Irish-Americans in the United States.

Goats Don't Shave
Goats Don't Shave

- Since their formation back in the summer of 1990, Goats Don't Shave have risen to become one of the most popular bands Ireland has ever produced.
Their name comes from a pub incident in which a drunken old man was told to go and have a shave and clean himself up - his response was to walk away muttering the words Goats Don't Shave!!
They began performing their Celtic folk-rock in between their day jobs; which included plumbing and fishing, at which point the lads started to pick up regular bookings. Next they went around the country, cadging money to record a small tape.

Foster & Allen
Foster & Allen began back in the seventies when Mick and Tony were playing in Country Music bands around Ireland. In 1975 they formed a small group and went over to the UK to work the Irish music venues on a short tour.
Mick & Tony had at this stage the idea of working together as a duo, playing ‘hardcore rock’ music with a touch of traditional Irish instrumentals. When their UK tour finished they decided to let the band return to Ireland whilst they stayed behind to try and break into the public eye. They played several venues in the London area and the reaction was very favourable; so much so, they decided to remain as a duo and Foster and Allen was unleashed upon the world.
It was difficult at the beginning and after a time working around the circuit in the UK and Ireland, they released their first single record The Rambles of Spring. This made a good impact on the Irish market and Foster and Allen were soon in demand for cabaret venues all over Ireland and to a much lessor extent the UK At the end of 1978 Foster and Allen released the single A Bunch Of Thyme in Ireland, which entered the Irish charts and became their first top-selling No. 1 single.

Declan Nerney

Declan was born in the heart of Ireland in Drumlish Co Longford, at a unique period of time in the music scene worldwide. A revolution in rock and pop brought us The Beatles, Elvis, and the Rolling Stones, while here in Ireland the magnificent showband boom was about to explode.

A young man growing up at that time, Declan was being heavily influenced by these greats and indeed was getting the rare opportunity to see most of the top showbands appear in his native town of Drumlish. He would cajole his mother into seeing Joe Dolan, Big Tom, Philomena Begley, The Capital Showband, and many more perform when the appeared at the marquee at the end of May and early June. From his vantage point close to the stage, he would absorb every move made by the guitarist in the bands, watching his fingers slide along the strings, hoping that one day he might be up there performing just like Dan O'Hara or Seamus McMahon...

Declan Galbraith
Declan Galbraith and his family live in England, in the small town of Hoo, near Rochester, Kent. His father, Alec, is of Scottish descent, while his mother Siobhan comes from a large Irish family. She is a twin and one of 14 children in her family. Declan’s grandfather whom he affectionately called ‚Poppy Ben’ sang in a band and played several instruments and often took Declan along to the ‘Fleadhs’ (concerts) he was playing in.

“I would sit there for hours watching Poppy Ben and the musicians, and listening to their music“, says Declan. The explosive mix of Scottish and Irish musical traditions inspired Declan and became his early musical influence. He remembers himself already singing at the age of two. He adds, “These are some of my very first memories in life – always singing.“
His talent was publicly acknowledged for the first time when at just 7 years old he insisted on performing spontaneously at the annual Rochester Dickens Festival, a  two-day extravaganza where people were invited to dress up in Victorian costumes to celebrate the life and times of the famous author Charles Dickens and his links with their town. Little Declan, dressed up as a chimney sweep, started singing and the crowd went wild.

Patrick Feeney
Patrick was born on the 9th day of  December 1982, Battlefield Culfadda, Ballymote, Co. Sligo. His father Patrick and mum Elizabeth and his brother and two sisters lived in the townland of Battlefield, Culfadda. He attended his local national school in Culfadda while farming with his dad. At that time Patrick was sure he was going to be the farmer of the house. His brother James who is now a “physcologist” was only interested in the books and had no interest in the land. His sisters Monica who is a hotel manager and Stella who is currently studying, all thought Patrick was going to keep on the farming but as Patrick was growing up he was learning to play the drums and keyboards and it was quite obvious he had an interest in music as well.

Natural Gas

Natural Gas is a four-piece group.  They have a gigantic repertoire from slow and plaintive love songs to lively sea shanties to rousing ballads, poetry and recitations and lively dance music played on a wide range of instruments including fiddle, uilleann pipes, guitar, tin whistle, accordion, harmonica, bass and bodhran. Although their roots are firmly based in traditional music, the band has no problem in traversing all musical styles.  They’re quite at home performing covers like Neil Young’s ‘Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World’ or L.L. Cool J’s rap anthem ‘I need Love’ easily blending jigs and reels with these songs to put their own stamp on them.  Many tales, not all of them repeatable, abound as to where the band derived their name.  One sanitized version explains a “gas man” as somebody humourous or good fun to be with.  Natural speaks for itself, no tricks or gimmickry here, just honest music from the heart.
