The  Dubliners
The Dubliners became very well known, not just in Ireland; they were also pioneers for Irish folk in Europe and also (though less successful) in the United States. Their 1967 recordings of "Seven Drunken Nights" and "The Black Velvet Band" were released on the fledgling Major Minor label, and were heavily promoted on pirate station Radio Caroline. The result was that both records reached the top 20 in the UK pop charts. A third single, Maids, When You're Young Never Wed an Old Man reached number 43 in December 1967. It was their last UK hit single till they recorded with the Pogues in 1987.

Neil Tobin
Neil Tobin..

The voice....ahhh that voice! The voice of the award-winning presentation in the Lismore Heritage Centre is Niall Toibin's; the voice of Lyon's Tea is Niall Toibin; and the Irish National Bank was built on a foundation of Niall Toibin's radio campaign.
Niall began training that voice as a child in the cathedral choir and the Opera House in Cork. In his teens, Niall joined a drama society attached to the Keating Branch of the Gaelic League. It was when Niall started acting in amateur plays with the Compantas Amharclaine na Gaeilge that he became "determined to be an actor."

Robbie O'Connell

“A National Treasure” is how, Ireland’s top music magazine, Hot Press, describes Robbie O’Connell, “... a man blessed with an enviable turn of phrase and a gift for melody bestowed on only the few.”

Robbie O'Connell was born in Waterford, Ireland and grew up in Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary, where his parents had a small hotel. He began to play guitar and sing at age thirteen and soon became a regular performer at the hotel’s weekly folk concerts. He spent a year touring the folk clubs in England before enrolling at University College Dublin where he studied Literature and Philosophy. During school vacations Robbie worked as an Irish entertainer in the U.S.A. In 1977, he joined the Clancy Brothers with whom he has recorded 3 albums, and two years later he moved to Franklin, Massachusetts.
With the release, in 1982, of his first solo album, Close to the Bone, Robbie emerged as an artist of major stature. Soon after, he began touring extensively with Mick Moloney and Jimmy Keane, and also with Eileen Ivers and Seamus Egan in the Green Fields of America. In 1985, the trio's first album, There Were Roses, was released. Robbie also participated in The Festival of Mountain Music and Dance on a five nation tour of Latin America. In 1987, the trio followed up their very successful first release with the album, Kilkelly, the title track of which was voted "Best Album Track of the Year" in Ireland. 1989 saw the release of a live concert recording of the Green Fields of America.

Mick Flavin

Mick Flavin grew up in a thatched farmhouse in Ballinamuck, Co. Longford. Working on a farm and running wild through the fields was a favourite part of this country boy's young life. His early home life was centred around an old record player and this influenced his interest in music and in people like Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Hank Williams and Tex Ritter. On his way to the well for water he always held the bucket over his head so he could hear the reverberation of the sound when he sang.. His first guitar cost the princely sum of £4 and he learned to play it from a Guitar Tutor he bought in Denniston's Music Shop in Longford. From the expertise he acquired playing his guitar and singing, he received an offer at sixteen years of age to play in a local band, which lasted two years. To support his music he acquired a trade and concentrated on qualifying as a carpenter. Based in Dublin, he availed of every opportunity to see his favourite Country and Irish Bands playing at The National, Ierne, Irish Club, Garda Club, etc.

Ronnie Drew & Eleanor Shanley
Eleanor and Ronnie have been singing on an off for the past twelve years, but it is only in the last two years that the act has coalesced into the full package of the Tour, CD and Video. Eleanor tells me about their first collaboration. "Some twelve year’s ago DeDannan were booked for a gig at St Stephen’s Green in Dublin and we thought it would be a good Idea to have a local singer join us on stage. Ronnie Drew was the obvious choice, as he was then the lead singer with the Dubliners. Later the Dubliners brought out their Thirty Years a Greying album and they invited me to join them on it. If I have no other claim to fame, I can say that I am the only female singer ever to have recorded with them."

The Saw Doctors
The Saw Doctors
are a folk-rock band from Tuam, County Galway in the west of Ireland, named after the itinerant craftsmen who once traveled from sawmill to sawmill sharpening and repairing saws. The band boasts a fervent following both at home and abroad and hold the record for Ireland's biggest-selling single ever.
Ireland's Dublin-based music cognoscenti have often sneered at the band's rootedness in "backward" West of Ireland locales. However, the Saw Doctors have nevertheless proved themselves a true "people's band," and have a fervent following, especially in Ireland and among Irish-Americans in the United States.

Patrick Feeney
Patrick Feeney was born on the 9th day of  December 1982, Battlefield Culfadda, Ballymote, Co. Sligo. His father Patrick and mum Elizabeth and his brother and two sisters lived in the townland of Battlefield, Culfadda. He attended his local national school in Culfadda while farming with his dad. At that time Patrick was sure he was going to be the farmer of the house. His brother James who is now a “physcologist” was only interested in the books and had no interest in the land. His sisters Monica who is a hotel manager and Stella who is currently studying, all thought Patrick was going to keep on the farming but as Patrick was growing up he was learning to play the drums and keyboards and it was quite obvious he had an interest in music as well.

Joe Dolan
Joseph Francis Robert 'Joe' Dolan (born 16 October 1943 in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland) is a singer of easy listening songs. His biggest hit was "Make Me An Island", which went to number 3 in the UK Singles Chart in 1969, and number 1 in 14 other countries. He was very popular in Ireland and among Irish emigrants from 1964 into the 1980s. He toured a great deal, and had several stints in Las Vegas.

In 1978, Dolan became the first Western pop singer to perform in the Soviet Union. In 1997, he rerecorded "Good Looking Woman" as a charity record with Dustin the Turkey, reaching Number One in the Irish Singles Chart. In 1998 and 1999, he released two successful albums of covers of songs by Britpop and rock artists including Blur, Oasis, U2 and Bruce Springsteen. In 2005, he had a hip replacement.
