![]() Mick Flavin |
Mick Flavin grew up in a thatched farmhouse
in Ballinamuck, Co. Longford. Working on a farm and running wild through the
fields was a favourite part of this country boy's young life. His early home
life was centred around an old record player and this influenced his
interest in music and in people like Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Hank
Williams and Tex Ritter. On his way to the well for water he always held the
bucket over his head so he could hear the reverberation of the sound when he
sang.. His first guitar cost the princely sum of £4 and he learned to play
it from a Guitar Tutor he bought in Denniston's Music Shop in Longford. From
the expertise he acquired playing his guitar and singing, he received an
offer at sixteen years of age to play in a local band, which lasted two
years. To support his music he acquired a trade and concentrated on
qualifying as a carpenter. Based in Dublin, he availed of every opportunity
to see his favourite Country and Irish Bands playing at The National, Ierne,
Irish Club, Garda Club, etc. |
![]() Patrick Feeney |
Patrick was born on the 9th day of
December 1982, Battlefield Culfadda, Ballymote, Co. Sligo. His father
Patrick and mum Elizabeth and his brother and two sisters lived in the
townland of Battlefield, Culfadda. He attended his local national school in
Culfadda while farming with his dad. At that time Patrick was sure he was
going to be the farmer of the house. His brother James who is now a
“physcologist” was only interested in the books and had no interest in the
land. His sisters Monica who is a hotel manager and Stella who is currently
studying, all thought Patrick was going to keep on the farming but as
Patrick was growing up he was learning to play the drums and keyboards and
it was quite obvious he had an interest in music as well. More.. |

![]() Declan Nereny |
Declan was born in the heart of Ireland in Drumlish Co Longford, at a unique period of time in the music scene worldwide. A revolution in rock and pop brought us The Beatles, Elvis, and the Rolling Stones, while here in Ireland the magnificent showband boom was about to explode.
A young man growing up at that time, Declan was being heavily influenced by
these greats and indeed was getting the rare opportunity to see most of the
top showbands appear in his native town of Drumlish. He would cajole his
mother into seeing Joe Dolan, Big Tom, Philomena Begley,
The Capital Showband, and many more perform when the appeared at the
marquee at the end of May and early June. From his vantage point close to
the stage, he would absorb every move made by the guitarist in the bands,
watching his fingers slide along the strings, hoping that one day he might
be up there performing just like Dan O'Hara or Seamus McMahon... |

![]() Travis Mann |
Travis Mann and his band have been creating
a craze on Nashville’s historic "Lower Broadway" since Mann’s arrival in
2005. If you are seeking a real authentic Honky Tonk experience, you will
not be disappointed by this Band’s uniquely true unleashed country sound.
Some think these boys must have played their songs in another life because
they seem to know something that others are missing trying to replicate
the music of a bygone era. As eras go, they also come back anew and the
Travis Mann Band is creating the "Next Era of Honky Tonk Music”, in the
Travis Mann style.
Singer/Songwriter Travis Mann was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on February
26, 1982. The son of a salesman/songwriter, Travis lived in many places
growing up; Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Wyoming, finally settling in a
small coal mining town in western Colorado where Travis attended High
School. As Travis grew up listening to his dad’s music, an eclectic
variety with a focus on traditional country, he found that he too had a
gift for playing and writing music. While attending college, Travis began
attending open mike nights in the local clubs, singing and playing in his
uniquely authentic country style.

Susan McCann... Prior to bursting onto the Irish scene, Susan and husband, Dennis Heaney had a three piece group that played the local pubs and cabaret spots around her home in Newry, Co. Down. The success of the single led to the formation of her band, The Storytellers. In 1979, Susan was
invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London. She rose to the
occasion thrilling 4,000 fans in Britain's most prestigious concert venue.
1980 was the year Susan went to Nashville to record an LP at Porter
Wagoner's studios. The sessions so impressed Porter that he asked he to

![]() Makem & Clancy |
The Clancy Brothers were an
Irish
folk
music singing group, most popular in the 1960s, who are often credited
with popularizing
Irish traditional music in the
United States. The brothers were
Patrick Clancy,
Tom Clancy,
Bobby Clancy and
Liam
Clancy. They are most well-known for their work with
Tommy
Makem, recording dozens of albums together as The Clancy Brothers and
Tommy Makem. In March 1956, Tommy Makem was out of work; he had landed
himself in Dover, New Hampshire, where many of his family members had
immigrated to, working in the mills. A two-ton iron printing press fell on
Tommy's hand, crushing it. His hand in a sling, and knowing the Clancy
brothers down in New York, he decided that the time time was right to record
a record. He told this to Paddy Clancy, who had founded a record company,
Tradition Records, to release Diane Hamilton's recorded material through.
Paddy agreed and brought in brothers Tom and Liam, as well as Tommy Makem,
to record an album of Irish rebel songs,
The Rising of the Moon. |
![]() Neil Tobin |
Neil Tobin.. The voice....ahhh that voice! The voice of the award-winning presentation in the Lismore Heritage Centre is Niall Toibin's; the voice of Lyon's Tea is Niall Toibin; and the Irish National Bank was built on a foundation of Niall Toibin's radio campaign. Niall began training that voice as a child in the cathedral choir and the Opera House in Cork. In his teens, Niall joined a drama society attached to the Keating Branch of the Gaelic League. It was when Niall started acting in amateur plays with the Compantas Amharclaine na Gaeilge that he became "determined to be an actor." More... |
